I have been passionate about pottery for over fifteen years now. I began by taking courses with some of Ottawa's top potters and soon set up my own studio at home. This allowed me to experiment with shapes and colours and to develop a style of my own. I continue to take workshops in pottery and in other disciplines such as watercolour and acrylic painting to bring new dimensions to my work. All my pieces are food safe and can be placed in your microwave or oven. I have always enjoyed mixing my own colored glazes in part because of my background - I have a Ph.D degree in chemistry from Charles University in Prague, the Czech Republic, where I was born. For me, preparing glazes and firing my pots is a natural extension of a career spent in a lab.
As a member of the Ottawa Guild of Potters, I attend workshops and our monthly meetings allow me to exchange ideas with fellow potters. My next great joy is teaching pottery to children as well as teenagers at the Gloucester School of Pottery which will have its new home, this coming Spring, in the Shenkman Arts Center in Orleans, Ontario.
My work is available at the Ottawa Guild of Potters biannual sales in April and November.
Thank you for your interest in looking bellow - at my pots.
